Day 5 and Counting

My plot is running away from me like a yowling banshee.

And I was totally right about it becoming a Gazette fic, ahah.  It's a complete AU though so it's almost like having my own characters.  Except they're awesome.  :P

Unlike some people who are just barreling forward with their word count, I'm staying true to the goal of 1,667 words a day.  My schedule seriously can't afford anything more than that.  I have 3 separate term papers hanging over my head, one which includes reading a 547-page book (that new autobiography, Life by Keith Richards for my "Understanding Music:  Rock" class) and all other sorts of chaotic-ness.  Plus, I'm trying to write a few lines for Lion each day so it doesn't get swallowed up by the madness.  I'm really in love with that plot, so don't worry!  It's definitely going to be updated no matter what!

About the NaNo novel:  a plot is slowly taking shape.  It's funny.  It went from being serious, to crack, to a brief glimpse of serious, followed by more crack.  I'm just rolling with it.  December is for editing (meanwhile my internal editor is screaming at me with a variety of expletives).  I'm not going to really say what the plot is.  Because... I really don't know.  And I don't want to set myself up for anything because I'm just taking this as "writing blindly".  It's very heavy in dialogue though, which I enjoy.  I've always loved reading dialogue because it shows a character's personality and is (when done right) very engaging to read.  So we've got a lot of that going on.

Here's a small (small) excerpt:

Welp.  Off to complete the Day 5 word count.

foolhardy

Note to self:

Never, never start writing a creepy story at 1AM.  Imagery stays with a person.  And it'll keep you up at night and your poor roommate will have to endure sleeping with the lights on.

You're a dumbass, self.

Sincerely,

Your Common Sense

So, a little background on this.  Since it's October, I figured why not write a little oneshot in dedication to the 'spookiness' of this month?  I've never written a horror-like genre before and so I was curious to see if I had the chops for it.  Well, I at least have the chops to scare myself.  Haha!  Basically, the whole reason I'm even doing this post is to stave off the eventual need to sleep and... close my eyes.

But anyhoo, it is a oneshot and it is 'Uruha/Aoi'.  It's probably the weirdest thing I've written.  Like, ever.  Not too sure what to think of it really XD

I'll probably post this nugget before I begin my next chapter-story.  And then never look at it again after dark.

And for anyone who's interested, the title is:  All My Pieces [love you]

Let's hope my dreams aren't too horrible to me tonight :P

reader's choice

So!  The last chapter of Violet Pulse is half-way written and will probably be posted next week sometime.  It's hard to get time in to write it properly due to college exams and whatnot.  But I'm determined to get it done with the care it deserves.

I don't know whether it's because the story's almost over or not, but  two major plot bunnies came barging into my room the other day.  They would both become multi-chapter stories and one of them I've already written the first chapter for.  The other would probably be a longer story and it's in its chapter-outline stage now.  I'm not really sure which one to focus on after the last chapter of Violet Pulse comes out.

So, if anyone on my flist is interested, please read the descriptions below and let me know what you want to see :)

'Along with our dreams we're wide awake'

I found this lovely little meme just a few seconds ago and, since this is a writing journal, I figured it could use a writing meme.  It's a nice little ice-breaker before I start posting fanfics (believe me, they're waiting, albeit impatiently, in line).  So!  Here we go:

'Season's Greetings AMIGO'

Hey everyone!  For those who have followed me, this will be my journal dedicated to all my writings.  To those who have stumbled upon this account, 'hi there!'.  My personal account, colbearlo, will still be up and running, but this journal will probably be updated way more often.  It's nice to start up something new and I had fun picking out a new, sparkling layout as well as icons galore =3  So, here we go..
A little about myself
Name:  Tessa
Age:  18
Hometown:  Suburbia, New York (=P)
Sign:  Sagittarius
Favorite Color:  Orange / Blue
I'm generally an easy-going person, usually approachable and I always thank anyone for anything they have to say about my writing (be it criticism, critique or praise).  I love the autumn, the number 21, the first frost, the Japanese language, and the snuggle-feeling of being glomped with blankets.  I enjoy having a lot of colors surrounding me (though neons can just go to hell) and a lot of lighting which makes me happy and not have that claustrophobic feeling when I walk into a dim room.  Hmm what else..
OH, I have an acoustic guitar that I bought on eBay (it was my 'holy-shit-lemme-become-a-misunderstood-artist' phase) that has been hanging on my wall ever since..  I am very ashamed, yes.  I do rock out on the cello and cover some rock songs with it (lots of Apocalyptica takes up my ipod ^^ ; ) and I used to know a few tunes on the piano (though that consisted of Mary Had a Little Lamb and Starlight Sonata.. BUT that's not the point!).
But, I digress, I should probably discuss a little about what made me start up this journal in the first place:  Jrock.
Now, I will keep the fangirl 'squee's'  at a minimum (though I'm not promising anything) and talk seriously for a minute (again, no guarantees this will stick).  The first artist I ever heard from Japan itself was Miyavi.  Now, probably like most who have heard this (GODLIKE) guitarist/singer shared my exact sentiments when I first laid eyes upon him:  "Oh goodness, I think he may need medication" -- and then 2 minutes later -- "BUT I LOVE HIM ANYWAYZ!!".  The first song was, I think, "Girls, Be Ambitious", that I listened to (at least according to my Youtube favorites).  It actually took three rounds of playing for me to tolerate it, and then to absolutely love it.  I can go on and on ( x infinity) about all the different songs from this lone man, but I will say this.  Never before did I listen to music in another language and understand it -- not through lyrics, but through heart.  It's something American music lacks -- that sincerity, soul, that when you listen, you listen.  You don't need Google: Translation.  Everything's laid out.  And it's just beautiful.
Another 'wow' moment I had was with the band 'The GazettE'.  Besides the awesome-sauce it's made up of, I had never before paid attention to every band member.  I never before tried to listen for their solos or contributions, knew their names -- and once again, this is with American mainstream bands.  It never piqued my interest to go and look up Daughtry's accompaniment or even listen to anything other than the lyrics.  But, that's what I think is so great about Jrock -- you don't need to know the language (though I do know a little sum-sum..) to appreciate it and to immerse yourself in it.
I'd keep going but, holy crap, I wouldn't ever stop! =D

A little about my fandoms (i'll keep this to an extreme minimum to make up for the above prattle-fest, haha)
Miyavi -- the adorkableness was what drew me in..
GazettE -- it should be a sin for a band to be composed of all hawt members.. IT'S NOT NATURAL
alice nine -- <33

A little about my writing
I usually stick with the dramatic genre, sometimes borderline fluff, sometimes some dark comedy.  I really don't know if I have a particular writing style; if I should sum up in one word, probably 'poetic'.  But I try not to let all the metaphors and similes get in the way of a good plot!  Also, I am known to be a oneshot-whore.  So, hopefully, this little journal will help be get my shit together and write some REAL plots, chapters, stories, etc etc.

Well, I hope to see you all soon with some entries!

EDIT:  And before I forget!  I owe all the credit for this lovely layout to <lj user="kaanivaru"> !
